    String sight

Any body use these. I came across some videos on Youtube and the guy hits targets at 100 and 160 yards.
Here are the videos on his sight. http://www.stringsight.com/videos.html

Just what we need, a gimmick to encourage farther bow shots. One hundred and sixty yards, might as well pull out the rifle.

Being up close and personal with animals is what put the hooks in my bowhunting addiction.

When it comes to bow hunting and rigging I am a newbie. Really newbie (just bought my bow in May of this year) so I am always looking at different sights, rests, etc. and in the little research I have done I had not seen anything like this before and was wondering if it was legit or not. I have been told that your farthest shot would be out to about 40 yards but I guess it depends on the shooter and type of sight.

My thoughts exactly. Be fun target practice though.

With a conventional sight and multiple pins, you could (in theory) put a pin for 60, 80, 100, 120+ yards and shoot those distances too. A fixed anchor point (peep) and the pins is as accurate as the moving anchor point (pin on your nose). Bowhunting is not done at those ranges because it's just not ethical to take long shots- there's too many things that can happen with aiming, release, arrow flight, wind, animal movement that can result in a bad shot, a wounded animal and not recovering it. Shooting paper at 100 yards does not transition to hunting at that range.

Traditional archers have a technique called "string walking" where they use a consistent anchor point, but put their top finger different distances from the bottom of the nock depending on distance, effectively changing the angle of the arrow with a consistent aim at the target. It's generally banned in traditional archery tournaments, with the rule that one of the fingers has to be in contact with the arrow's nock. Why it's not allowed, I don't know.

I can't imagine having multiple anchor points.

Not ranges I would shoot at game but it looks like the kid is a dang good shot to me. My hats off to anyone that can pull off that type of shooting......Looks like he is not using the latest and gratest bow. My guess is he is dedicated and shoots often. The string sight looks like a good idea as long as it does not move and it does not mess with your anchor. I saw the Youtube a while back and wondered the same thing.

I just love to shoot. I'd give it a try at 100+ yards. Not for hunting though.

How much KE would be delivered at 100 or 160 yards. I bet the penetration into that 3D target was close to nil. I think the longest shot I would take would be around 60 yards on pronghorn or something light skinned.

There's a market for this. People with eye dominance issues or just poor vision in low light will do anything to get rid of a peep sight.

Just close the left eye when you aim. No problem.
