Riddle me this TBH brain trust

I was sitting outside tonight and heard what I think had to be some kind of bird. The reason I think it was a bird is because I heard it at about 80 yards in front of me, then about 20 yards behind me, then about 100 yards behind me. All was in about a 10 minute time frame.

The sound it was making started with a slow series of clicks and progressed in to what I can only describe as the high pitched whine of a bearing going out.

Something like...Click click click click click clickckickclickclickwhhhhhhiiiiinnnnneeeeeee and the whine part would last from 15 seconds to a minute.

I thought about some kind of tree frog, but it was never answered, just the one in different places at different times.

In all my years of being in the outdoors from Canada to South Texas, from Tahiti to Africa, I have never heard such a critter.

    Any ideas on this??????

I agree, roadrunner. Crazy jungle sound that moves around a lot and fast. Watched two work the neighbors landscape together yesterday afternoon. One would fly into a shrub, spook the bugs and the other would chase them down.

Ok, I may need to put the budlite down for a while, but I now what a locust sounds like, my dog eats them every morning plus I hear them all the time.

Could have been a road runner, but I have not seen any in this area in the last 8 years.

Dale not get a beer open......PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
