No good dogs end up good for something

Well, last week while I was out conducting some hog hunts, my wife called me to let me know we had a "guest" at the house.
First, let me say we live out in the country, 1/2 mile down a private road. Have only one neighbor down from me across the road. Had a stray show up about 3 yrs ago. Since she didn't eat a lot, I kept her. (I was feeding 6 of my own dogs at the time). Anyway, she had a litter of pups last fall. After trying to give them away, we still ended up with 3 left. They were good for nuthin but trashin the yard and chasin the neighbor's cows. Well, I was gone, wife at work, and my step-daughter gone, my 13 yr son was the only one at home. About 12:30 pm (mid-day) he hears the dogs barkin' like he's never heard before. He looks out the window to see what the "fuss" was all about. That's when he sees this guy runnin thru the yard wearing a black ski mask!!
He called the sheriff's office out and they came out and looked around the place and took his statement and the describtion of the guy. Figured since there were no vehicles at the house, this guy was gonna "check it out"!!!
Now, I think I got some purdy good "yard dogs"!!

Sounds like you have a good alarm system going there.

Thieves don't know it, but almost any dog will freak out when you put a mask on.

          Sounds lime my yard dogs.

Send me a couple of them dogs, i got 4 in my yard and one being a 80lb pit and i dont even get a bark, as a matter a guy came by this morning after i left work(he thought i was still home) and he called and said that i have the meanest gaurd dogs, he said the pit never picked his head up and the other stayed in the dog house and the other two jumped on him wanting to play, so he said he went to the pit to make sure he was still alive and he jumped up and wanted to play too... NEVER A BARK..LOL Glad u got some yard dogs like that, they are probly the best alarm system.

Good deal! You need to buy them some doggie treats on the way home!

I got three barkers myself. Eighty pound lab, Golden Retriever who's well on his way to being that big if not bigger, and her little 25 pound Jack Russell. Someone comes to the door, or even near it for that matter, and they go balistic. It sounds evil and any thief who came through the front door has more......man parts than I do, they sound that big and mean. That said, once a thief made it inside, they would gladly show him where all the valuable stuff is, probably even help him carry it to the car!

ive spent the last 28 years as a cop,, dogs will save you a lot more than any alarm ever will... i got a terror of a chiuahua in the house an a BIG boxer in the yard... no body gets close without one or both alarms going off.. I doubt the boxer would hurt anyone unless my son was in danger,, but dang if he aint intimidating!!! and he plays rough enough to make anybody run!!!

We had a excellent yard dog till he got ran over by the UPS man!!
He was very protective when other dogs or animals came in the yard. He would let ya know when a stranger came up, but he was very friendly.
These pups are part blue heeler, so they have a "high pitch" bark, which can be aggrevating at times. But when something "out of the ordinary" comes in the yard, their bark is off the charts!!!
Also, during the day, you never see them. They lay up in the shade, either behind the house in the brush or under the house, sleeping!!
I figure this guy got to close to the house and they smelt him. Either way, they ran him off, cause my son saw him runnin from the window. He never knew my boy was in the house.

Might be time to let them out of the cage and let them do some real cop dog work. Let the K-9's loose.
