The hunt based only on trophies taken falls far short of what the ultimate goal should be. Time to commune with your inner soul as you share the outdoors with the birds, animals, and fish that live there - Fred Bear

    (This was Corey's fav quote)

Bill, thanks for posting that, and his favorite quote.

I happen to have the whole quote with a picture of Fred Bear dragging a deer by the antlers with his long bow behind him taped to the refrigerator in my garage, clipped from a 1999 page of Bowhunting World. I look at it often as I'm getting ready to go hunting and think about what a great man Fred Bear was, now I can add Corey Kovar to those thoughts.

A hunt based only on trophies taken falls far short of what the ultimate goal should be...time to commune with your inner soul as you share the outdoors with the birds, animals, and fish that live there.

A downed animal is the object of a hunting trip, but it becomes an anitclimax when compared to the many other pleasures of the hunt. A period of remorse is in order. Perhaps a few words of forgiveness for having taken a life. After this there is the self-satisfaction for having accomplished a successful stalk and made a good shot.

I like to think that an expedition be looked upon, whether it be an evening hunt nearby or a prolonged trip to some far-off place, as a venture into an unspoiled area. Hardships are quickly forgotten. Bitter cold, rain and snow, fatigue and luckless hunting fade into memories of great fellowship, thoughts of beautiful country, pleasant camps and happy campfires.

    - Fred Bear

My wife got a call Sunday and I asked her what was wrong. She told me Corey had passed. Well I met Corey back in January of last year at my M-I-L funeral. She baby sat him for years when he was a kid. He meant the world to Her and spoke of him all the time. He was like a little brother those years to my wife. This is sad!
