I've never replaced a string ... not even on my Mathews.
I don't shoot enough to ever wear one out before I get a new bow.

Yeah that's me...I just shoot some bullcorn out there every so often to see where it goes. I've actually only did that robin hood thing once in the 4 or 5 months I've been shooting. Replaced my string once because the factory teflon slide had cut it.

Strings in otherwise good shape can easily be reserved by a good shop and give you another year of service… But I recommend replacing the string and cables on at least a two year cycle for the average bow hunter, and with more frequency for those who shoot competitions or practice on a daily basis.
One thing that ain't no bullcorn is the info that Javi gives out...I am the furtherest thing from a bow expert or an arse kisser but his input is always well thought out and oozes experience.

Thanks for the information! I have had my bow three years and had my peep keeps rotating on me. This past week while shooting in the back yard I was good on my 20, 30, and 40yards settings. However, when I shot 3d this weekend I notice all my settings were off. All my shots were about six inches low and I was having to use my 30yard setting to hit at 20yards yet my 50 yard setting was about 6inches too high. Major confusion to say the least and a bad day in all.

I am thinking it is time for new string and cables since I have had the same string and cables for three years and shoot 3d in the off season. Any feedback on the issue?

It's hard to tell if you're serious or if you're just full of poo if you don't put a or after your post! Hell, for all I know you could have been some tournament shooter that slings 2000 arrows a week! Now, I know you're just full of it!

when they start to frey, I wax my string every time I put her back in the case.

Change mine every 2 years. Always keep the newest set for back up.

Not sure that's the string as there are several other things that can cause sight marks to be off, but if you've shot it for 3 years it's time to change...
