    Morning explosion?

Does anyone know of something that exploded west of Dallas this morning? I was driving west bound on Walnut Hill at 3:15 this morning and saw a big bright flash. It went from the ground up. It seemed to be between Dallas and Ft. Worth somewhere. I don't think it was lightning.

Nothing on the news this morning. You must be working overtime again.

Did you see a fireball or just a flash.

Could have just been a transformer blowing out. Those things are pretty darn bright.

You aren't alone! I left for work at 3:15 am this morning and at 1:30am yesterday...It beats the alternative!

Not related to your post but the post reminded me of an experiance I had christmas eve about 10 years ago. driving through NM heading to Clovis from the west. About 2am I saw a really bright light in the sky. It was comming from behind a cloud. Completely dark night except this light. I figured it was a large plane sine that area of NM has plenty of Military bases. Well suddenly there was a bright flash ( from the light ) then fire balls all over the place falling to the ground. Appeared to be 3-5 miles from me. Just down the road there was a trucker parked on the road. I asked him if he saw it. He did. both of us were amazed. Paul Harvey mentioned it on his show the next Christmas. Several witnesses saw a triangle shaped craft flying across the sky. Then it exploded!!!!!!
Well I never saw what was making the light but i did see the explosion.

especially when it is struck by lighting 50 yards away from you!!!

Randy when i read the title to this thread, the first thought that came to mind was that you actually went to Pancho's!!! And no one needs to know that. Check the paper on line and see if it has been mentioned

It was probably a transformer. It was a blue color and flashed pretty quick.

Sorry about the "My life sucks" part of this. I'm just going through a frustrating time right now. It will all work out.

With the heat we are having, transformers are being taxed like working folks and blow a lot more than any other time of year. They make a pretty bight flash even the 14.4 k-volt size.

I vote transformer also. A couple years ago when we got like 6 inches of snow on Easter I was working at the FD and we were out chasing transformer explosions most of the night. Looked like one of those night vision videos you see form Iraq with all the explosions going on all over town. Pretty blue/green color, and lots of noise.
