Think you could do a set of 100 push-ups?

Somebody at the office came across this website: http://hundredpushups.com/ - Which claims that no matter your fitness level (within reason) the program will have you able to do 100 push-ups -in one set- in 6 weeks. The macho competitive vibe started flowing and then it was "I'm in, you in?" Six of us pitched in $25 to be divided between all who can do 100, 6 weeks from now. We range in age from 29 to 52 (me). To start, you set a baseline by seeing how many you can do. That range was from 22 to 50 push-ups. ( I came in at 32) Your baseline determines the workout, which is to be done 3 times weekly. I have been getting bored and half-assed with my weight-lifting so I needed a gimmick and a little competition to get me motivated. Should we start a TBh push-up challenge?

No way. 100 is really tough. Hell, 30 is tough.

I haven't been able to do 100 since I was racing kayaks in 2001
at 58 you go out of shape fast if you don't work out everyday......

I doubt I could do ten. Good luck with the competition.

Me and a couple friends started what we called the "grand club" at work. On breaks and lunch we would do as many pushups as we could. The goal was to do toal, 1000 in a day. Only three of us made it! I love pushin, so I'm in. I just tried to go to 100 but I came up short with 76. Let's do this thing!!!

For a fat guy, I can still do a lot of pushups. I don't know my exact amount but one night when we were drinking my brother in law (he's 8 years younger) and I got bulletproof and challenged each other to a push up contest. He stopped at 34. I was at 42 when he stopped so I didn't push it any further. I didn't have many (if any) left by that time.

I'm mostly going to do cardio to try to drop weight so I'll do this with my cardio for the weight loss challenge.

I tried a few not long ago. 100 probably not.

If I could only do 10/15 (don't know, just guessing out loud), is this program supposed to have me doing 100 in 6 weeks?

I can max out at 73 push-ups right now so I am game to try and reach 100.
