I keep hearing we need to atleast respect what he did on the field..... Last time I checked all he did was play a game. In the end he, me and you are not going to be judged on how we played football. He was murdered and just because he cheated on his wife does not mean he should have been killed, but he put himself in that situation. Did he deserve to die of course not, but he chose the lifestyle and the cards were dealt.

      Good point!

I don't condone what he was doing, not right in my book either. Don't get me wrong. It just seems a lot of "famous" people are getting a little too big for their britches and are paying for it all of a sudden. There are a few that I am not all that sad about too.

what does being a professional athlete have to do with anything?.....maybe the only reason it is on CNN but they are hardly the only ones who have 20 somethings on the side.....not sure he deserved death but he was walking on the wild side and pushed his luck

Didn't say you needed to respect him because he played a game. Simply said a little respect for someone and their family during a tough time seems appropriate. Understand he was unfaithful to his wife, but not sure why that has had such an effect on some of you personally. To call someone scum and what not just seems pretty harsh. Glad my dad isn't a famous ball player and I will not have to listen to people not in the know judge him for all his mis doings.

I don't think people are judging him for ALL his mis-doings, just the one that disgraced his image and memory and left his family devastated in more ways than one. For their sake, I hope he was a better financial planner than he was a husband.

You can do good deeds all your life and some people won't remember them, but it only takes one bad deed and people remember it forever.

Yeah, especially if it gets you killed.

                      Why is that?

I will remember Steve for the right reasons. I'll remember his as a good athlete, and a great leader on the field. On who gave back to the community. And as one who did it out of the spotlight.
                      RIP 9

That is just a qoute I grew up with, but may not or does not apply to some one famous like Mcnair, I'm not famous like he was. In my experiance in life being in the military and where I work now and what I do, people seldom recognize or rembember what you did when you do something right because it's expected unless you know someone. But you screw up, even a minor screw up, they definately recognize that and remember it. Infact it could put you in the wrong spot light.

And I guess I know the answer to my own question, and that that is the way this jacked up society of our is. Steve never looked for the spotlight, and only those who followed him knew he was something special. ESPN highlights of him on Sunday eve did him no justice.I am glad that atleast some people will remember him for the same reason they loved him. He deserves it.
