    Question for Your Ammunition Experts

I am working on a large wood project that will have the brass from a shotgun shell inlayed in the wood. Here is my test piece:

I simply removed the shot, plug and powder and cut the plastic off. However, I'm not too hip on leaving a live primer in the finished product.

Is there anything I can do to "kill" the primer, yet leave the appearance that it is an unshot shell?

    Thanks in advance,

Spray it with WD40. It will kill the primer.

Thanks 41. I assume you are talking about soaking the inside of the brass? I guess I could test this method with a single shot shotgun.

41Chevy is right. Set it up in a plastic pan & fill about 1/2 inch or so with WD-40. Do several & try to fire one in your shotgun OUTSIDE after they have soaked for 2-3 hours. I used the same trick some time ago & worked fine for me.
