    What is a Bow Bug?

I seen this in another thread and was trying to find out what it is. I have never heard of it and could not find any info on it. Just curious

it is a little radio transmitter that attaches to your arrow. when you shot something it sticks to the animal and sends out a signal. you have an directional antenna that you then use to find the critter. I would not hunt hogs without one.

I get a bow bug about every two years. I go out and buy a new one and the bug goes away for a while!

the only thing I don't like about them is you can't shoot thru netting with them

                  Maybe due to the cost?

I thought about this very same idea several years ago

JYOUNG i thought it could be the $$$ but if you notice in the LDPs most everyone is shooting a top end bow, carbon arrows, ect. I think it may be just that you shouldn't ever need it if your a good blood trailer. I'm color blind so I know a blood trail is a struggle for me.

                        bow bug

I was actually working on making something like this when my brother e-mailed me a link to their website.OH Well. From what I read on their website the range of detection on these is extremely limited.Maybe that is why they don't sell well.If I remember right detection range could be as little as 20 yards and what if a animal fell and covered up the transmitter? Sorry just went to their website and says ranges less than 100 yards not 20

jyoung I feel your pain. I had to drive home one time and get my son's, 6 and 4 at the time to trail a deer for me.

when the arrow strikes it snaps the rubber bands and is not attached to the arrow any longer. The only animal I have had it fall out of is a coon and I think he pulled it out his self.
