    Mathews Cam questions

I am about to be given a used Mathews LX bow from a friend of mine. I'm thinking it might a little short for me, however. I think I need around a 29.5" draw.

    1. The current cam says 28.5" 80% let off and 28" 65% let off. I understand what let off is but don't understand how the same bow can have two diffrerent let off amounts. Can someone educate me on this please?

    2. Also, if I do have to get a different cam, does it have to be an LX cam? Do all mathews bows use the same cams, just different sizes?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

The cams are for different bows. I shot a Reezen and my cam is marked 6.5-29.5 and 7.0-30, indicated that if the cam was on a Reezen 6.5 the draw length would be 29.5.

I believe that Mathews have different cams for their various models of bows. \

    Hope this helps.

the string will be moved to a different post on the cam to shorten drawlength, so all that does is advance the cam, so since the cam is advanced already drawlength is shorter and you loose letoff. i don't think you can use another cam on lx just an lx cam i think.

Mathews cam tables-click on the LX tab on the bottom.

You will have to use an LX cam

All true: They are cam specific, aside from the many models that use the Max or Mini max cam.

However; if you want to do some experimenting since it's a used bow anyway, and have access to a set of custom strings and cable, try a Switchback cam on an LX or Legacy if you happen to find one.

Make for a pretty sweet poor mans Switchback.

Put a rope loop on the string 1st and see how the shorter draw length works for you. Most people who have bows that don't fit them have too long a draw length. Better short than long for your shooting form. I don't know squat about Matthews cams.
