I've been pondering the idea for awhile now.

Id like to know what a decent metal detector cost's and what brand works good? I know where there are LOTS of old homesteads Id like to search!!

maglite, I've been looking at a couple and they are like bows. the best I can tell your average will run you in the fiveish range, but as low as 200 and well up over a grand.

try getting an garett ace 250 its a good starter machine Kellyco.com should have them at a good price plus they give you extra stuff for free.
