from a good friend, biologist/cave diver I had sent the sign photo to

When I was at Univ. of Florida I worked as a biologist for the Florida State Museum, now moved and renamed. Also very active in cave diving. I was with my friend Dave looking for access to a spring on the west coast of Florida. We approached from the east and drove through the woods and came upon a fence line. There was a sign inside the fence. It looked like a giant had broken a sheet of plywood in half and nailed it to a tree. The lettering was in red paint, getting smaller from left to right as writer ran out of room and the letters dripped paint. It read:

Truspussers wil get gut shot ded

We didn't cross the fence line. About an hour later, we are approaching the area from the west and drive into a private driveway, unpaved. I got out and went to the door of the trailer, and could see the spring in the back yard. An old pudgy guy answers the door holding a bag of potato chips. He offered me one and I thanked him and took a few chips. He was a retired Professor from the Univ. of Florida. I explained who we were and what we were looking for. He showed us around the property and gave us access. In the process of showing us around we came across the same sign. My friend laughed and I explained to the guy that his sign works very well.
