    Welder Suggestions?

I'm looking for a welder for light work, nothing more than 1/4" plate. I'd rather have a 110v to allow for mobility around my shop. I'm torn between a wire vs. small stick welder. Does anyone have input on this? Maybe a brand or model they recommend? It wouldn't be used often but when you need it, you need it. I realize the small units limit your possibilities but I have a big 220 out at the ranch. Need something smaller for the shop at the house. Thanks in advance.

I have same as Jgard, been using it today. I would buy again. Bought my at Lowes. If you decide to go wire, buy the 10# rolls of wire, lot cheaper.

Miller, Lincoln and Hobart cant go wrong with either of these. just for thought, Hobart is owned by Miller and are made a little cheaper as why they can sell a little cheaper, but still a very good machine for around the house. and the good thing about all three is you can buy all the consumables local, be careful buying an off brand, got one horse trading and couldn't get any consumables for it. good luck

another vote for the Hobart 110V was the Handler 135 when I bought mine several years ago. liked it enough I ended up getting one for my dad also. great for light gage and tubing for making blinds
