Congratulations on taking the step, these guys are steering you right. When I started as a young man I did not have alott of money. I bought a golden eagle at wal mart and rigged it out for less than $250. I guess what I am trying to say is that it is not the equipment you shoot but the effort you put in to it that makes you lethal. Now, that being said, Hoyt makes some sweet bows.
