Callahan and Haskell County Rut ?'s

Does anyone know about the rut in the Callahan/Hskell area. I am headed to my lease out there this weekend and was wondering if anyone had any info. on the hunting out there. I've been to the lease once(it was originally a quail lease, so we got it late), however there is to much deer and pig sign not to hunt it, so I am kinda jumpin in last minute prayin for a chance to stick somethin before the season is over.

That is great country I hunt just a little north in Shackelford county. Rut usually runs around Nov 17th thru Thanksgiving

I agree with huntingfanatic. I hunt in Shackelford County, and it is generally close to done by Thanksgiving, and depending on the year it picks up in early November. Last year I shot my buck the last weekend of October and the bucks were still in bachelor groups.

I have hunted in Shackleford and Callahan counties for years. Benjie is dead on. The rut in that area ususally starts before thanksgiving and is almost done during Thanksgiving. It varies a little each year but Nov 17 to Nov 25 is the best time to hunt that area.

Thanks guys. I was told today a nice 10 pointer was seen on the lease a week ago Sunday. He isn't bedding down there, but passsin through to the peanut field or tank. I just have to convince two of the guys on the lease with me to leave the smoke pole at home for a short period.
