    My Old Hoyt/Easton............

Digging around today I found my old Hoyt Pro Hunter bow that I bought.......well.......a lot of years ago.

I bought this bow after my house was broken into and my old Bear was stolen. A pawn shop saw my name and phone number on the arrows and called me but I was at work........they left a message on my machine and refused to buy it......the guy took off and I never got it back.

Back the 80's I remember just a few manufacturers........Bear, PSE, Person, Hoyt.......might have been more......can't remember.

Hoyt Easton was top of the line back then and that is what I bought for a mule deer hunt in Utah........I scored on my first Muley with it.

Because I was going to be climbing mountains and anticipated being pretty rough with it I built my own quiver made from 1" flat steel that I drilled and formed to my liking...........yea, it was kind of heavy.

Mongoose was a quality sight so I splurged and bought one. I was pretty good with this bow. I bought my son his own Hoyt/Easton youth bow and we did a lot of 3D shooting at the Mesquite range.

I created a lot of memories with this old bow and still shoot it occasionally.

That bow will kill an animal as dead as a 350 fps, parallel limb new onee. I elk hunted with a guy from Minnesota who had taken 11 bulls by that point in his life. He shot a Matthews all "tricked out" for 3d at home, and he hunted with an old bear, no sight and a glove for elk. Anything that could go wrong was not taken hunting. I think all his elk were shot at 20 yards, or less too.

The new ones might be more fun however.

Good stuff, Tbar. I shot a Hoyt Buck for a long time. Very similar.

I bought a Pro Hunter when I was a senior in high school and had it for years. It was one sweet shooting bow!

Hey guys and gals, the old bows, just like old guys n gals is where all the archery foundations come from!! Matthews makes a fine bow, but they never came up with any of the ideas they try to make you think they did! From the designing the solo cam to their fixed roller cable guide. All that was pre 1976 stuff already on bows of that era! Yes sir technology has come a long, long way, but if we aren't carefull, it just might be our demise!!!

I've still got my '91 Hoyt Super Slam Heat. It was the top of the line smokin bow back then. Even Chuck Adams was endorsing it. Got Uncle Ted's autograph on the upper limb too.
