        The antler has been in the tree for a long time. The tree grew upward, carrying the antler with it and growing around it. What I find especially interesting is that there appear to be lichens growing on the antler.

          Nope. Never seen a dude quite that goofy lookin'. Nice find!


          And I'd give that tree another year before cutting it down!

                I've heard people say that buck had a tree on his head, but never seen it like that! Cool find!

                          Woody5, I found a mule deer shed like that on a backpack/bowhunt in Nevada about 15 years ago. I still have it to this day as I was packing a little hand saw and cut the section out with the antler intact. One tine was actually going through the aspen trunk (the trunk had grown around it). It also had lichens growing on it. Sad part about it, I had this keepsake on my mantle abobe the fireplace and a kid knocked it off and shattered much of the antler...but it's still pretty cool.
