I was going on the ram hunt in couple weeks and was wondering if you could post some pics of the rams you took along with what kind of tag they had. I am just trying to get an idea of what I am looking for. Thanks

Here's a few that I dug up, Shane.
The tags on these were removed (just like you stated many people do).

A green tagged black Hawaiian. This is Bob, the guy that organized our hunt.


Bob's brother, Jimmy, with a green tagged corsican.


My green tagged rambo. (the ONLY picture I have, that still has the tag)


Bob with an green tagged painted desert and an orange tagged catalina.


Bob's dad, Jim, with a yellow tagged mouflon "type".

The black hawaiian was a red tag- $270-scored bronze, minimum entry.
The Texas Dall, was a blue tag-$360-still suprises me that he was also bronze, but my favorite exotic mount.
The Catalina wasnt' shot at Thompsons, but was one inch from Gold I think.

Here is my painted desert ram from December 2008. He was a blue tag that scored almost Gold. He was high silver barely missed the gold.

A few things:

All rams make good skull mounts. If you are looking for a good should mount and high score I would look for:

Curls that are at least down to the bottom jaw, mass and width. Look for a ram with a nice cape, a beard that is long and full.

As you can see, none of mine have good beards. My Texas dall, the curls don't come down to his jaw line etc....These are just things I look for in a trophy now.

Red tag Black Hawaiian ($270)..
