Rio Bonito Ranch, in Junction, Texas

Anyone ever hunted here? I am entered in the Campbell’s Outdoor Challenge next weekend where we are bow hunting for Hogs. I found the web site and it is huge, but I am curious if anyone has ever been there. I should have some good video for this thing as this is made of two man teams, one hunts, one video tapes, then after the shot if fired, you switch. I plan to have several cameras running to get all angles, so I should have some good video to throw up here.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has been here and what the hog situation is. We will not be in the high fence but the free range.

I was there last summer. Fairly expensive ranch. Fortunately, I won the trip from TTHA. Met some of the best people there. Be sure and say hey to Gwynne for me. Oh and while there, you will be treated to some of the best food and hospitality you could ever hope for. Be sure and ask Gwynne or her son about some of the history of the ranch house. It is very rich in history. The hunting would have probably been better had I not been there in the middle of summer. Saw tons of animals, but no shooters. Was there 4 days and had a great time. 25 sqaure miles of land so I definitely didn't have time to see it all. In the end I had to settle for 3 pigs instead of the exotic I was hoping for. Overall it was an awesome experience.
If you think you may have the time, bring some angling gear. They have some awesome bass in the lake behind the ranch house.
    Good luck and enjoy....

Thanks for the tip. I am looking forward to it. I will bring the fishing gear, I am sure that we will want to get out of the tree sometime. The contest starts at sun up and ends at sun down. As for as Hogs, what were they like, med, small, large? This is the kind of thing I am looking for. By the way, we are guest for this thing too. Got the invite from the show, so I am not paying to the hunt... Thanks for the heads up though.

Out of about 20 that I saw, including the 3 I shot, all were in the 100-120 lb range. No scary ones...

Nice place and 5 star service and accomodations. Gwen Hughes is one really nice lady and hostess.
Unfortunately all I got was lots of pics of Aoudads, catalinas, sikas and an axis buck.
