Using a Coca Cola in your wash????

I was told that putting a Coca Cola in your wash once it fills with water & soap will clean your dirty greasy clothes very well. Have any of yall heard of this or tried it? What are some other things to use? Also will it hurt your washing machine? BTW, she has been doing this with her husbands(he is a farmer) clothes for years now. FYI, you dont have to use Coca Cola any cola will work IE; sams cola, HEB etc...

If you put a little bit of Dawn dish soap in with your greasie jeans and shirts it will clean them really good. after all they say it's the grease cutter.
