Help needed with HD Camera

I just purchased a Sony HD camcorder (Sony HDR-cx100/B) and it is a great camera, the picture quality is unbelieveable, but I am having problems editing video. The software that came with the camera was very basic and I was not able to transfer HD video to Windows Movie Maker so I went out and bought Adobe Premiere Elements 7. I have not had much luck with that program as well. Does any one have any advice on the camera I bought or the editing software? Really all I am trying to do is film hunts and add in a slow motion shot at the end, very easy on windows movie maker, but I am not having much luck with these other programs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you had any trouble capturing/loading the video to the computer?

Go to youtube and do a search on adobe premeire..I bet there are some how to's on there..

I can capture, but when I play back with Adobe my computer can't keep up

I dont think windows movie maker is compatible with HD video...

I dont have any problem capturing HD video with windows moviemaker on my laptop. I bought Pinnacle Studio version 12 the other day and it works great to.

what format are your files in that you are able to open in windows movie maker?

How new is your computer? You may need some more ram or a better video card.

It is a Dell Inspiron 1420, it is probably 3 years old
