    Euro mounts question

Do any of you writes the date of kill on euro mounts? If so where do you put it?

I normally write the date, location, etc. on the back of the plaque that the skull is mounted to. So far I can still remember every detail, but one of these days I might need to "refresh" my memory.

I'm making one right now for Tyge. Will look like the picture below, but rather than the antler bow holder, it will have a small antique brass plaque with name, date and ranch name.

Under the roof of the mount with a fine tip sharpie. This is an excellent tip for hunters who are going to Africa to do to ensure you get your animal back. Your taxidermist should provide you with shipping tags that you give to your PH to put on each animal skull, cape and backhide. When the animals go the skinning shed you can take the little bit of extra time to check daily that your animals are tagged and you can put your name on the roof of the mouth after the skulls are boiled.

I just use the brass name plate with the info on it.

..base of the skull facing up (can't see it unless you take the mount off the wall....)

I would use the back of plaque but this one is just sitting out on a table laying on his side
