Similar to a bore snake but the point and can be used to poke out any mud (keep muzzle end pointed down) and then pierces the patch / feed through the chamber and pull out through the muzzle....a couple passees and it's all out. Ready to go back hunting and takes up no space. I keep mine in a zip lock with the patches.
That is a good idea. I have been meaning to buy a cleaning kit for my AR but you just saved me the money.

Scary stuff. I once saw a guy shooting trap when his reload went pop and his wad got stuck in the barrel and he fired the next and watched it split like a bananna.

If I ain't mistaken, his friend, after the gun just exploded in his hand, asks if he got one. That's a true hunter right there my friend...
No I'm not sure if that was a glob of dirt...not sure what it was though. Yeah that is pretty funny that his friend was still worried about whether or not he got one

He was defiantly lucky. The guy with the bore sighter in the barrel got laid open pretty good.

I have seen a 12gauge barrel that was fired with mud packed in the barrel, it didnt split but bulged and cracked. Scary stuff right there. 2 things to remember, treat every gun as if its loaded and protect your barrel from dirt and any obstructions. Tough lesson to learn for sure. Dude is lucky

                  Im calling FAKE.

I too saw the Mythbusters episode, anyone know what could split a barrel like that ALL the way down without welding it closed?

These guys must be some of the most non-foul mouthed guys ive ever seen. How many of you would utter more than "what the" if that happened

I used to work part time in a gunshop, had a guy bring in a winchester model 70 in 270 caliber that split into 4 pieces. They split all the way back just like the gun in the video. He had fallen in the mud on the way to his blind before daylight and forgot to check his barrel. It still had some mud on the outside. His only injury was where the trigger guard cut his finger when the gun jumped completely out of his hands when he fired it.

You don't have to believe that video, but believe me....it can and will happen and it can kill you. The mythbuster guys have been wrong plenty of times....this was one of them.
