That is the reason that braided is to popular. Braided is about 80% thinner than the equivalent pound test on mono.

If you keep the same Diameter, then yea it'd be 40# test. if you want 10# test line then Braid is going to be the size of 4# test.

I use Suffix braid in 8#dia/30# test, great stuff.

I've tried Spiderwire, Power Pro and Suffix. BY far the Sufix braid is the best for me. I mostly Bass fish and use 20# Braid for the Wacky Worms. Being it was Braid, I was skeptical at first but my first afternoon with it netted about 20 bass at Rayburn. I'm a believer now. The Sufix lays better on the reel and spools off just like Mono.

          Good luck.

I used spiderwire that was 30# test and had the diameter of 6# mono if I remember right. You can really yank the fish out of the brush without having to worry about breaking off.

For regular wormin/ jiggin, I dont use anything smaller than 30# test. I've had 20# test broke. Why use 20# braid? I spool my reels with 30# or 65# braid. 30# for "light tackle" stuff 65# for heavy jigs, carolina rig (I use 30# braid for my leader)

One thing you have to remember is to ease up on the drag and hookset. Braided line does not stretch like mono does. If your drag is tight and you tend to jerk hard, all you're gonna do is rip holes in the fishes mouth. Takes a little getin used to, but brais is the way to go.

I use 10# braid in all my ultralight rigs. Its the Spiderwire Stealth if memory serves. It's the same diameter as like 3 or 4# mono. I really like the stuff. It doesn't have line memory like mono does either.

10# Power Pro looks like a strand of hair goin down in the water.

I use the Suffix 8/30 as well and have never had any issues with it.
