Anyone else have the DVD Player Curse???

I swear I'm cursed. I have the worst luck with DVD Players. My wife just called me and said that my little boys DVD player in his room is not working, AGAIN! And the "Cars" dvd is stuck inside. This would make the fourth dvd player in about a year and a half that has crapped out on me. Does anyone else have this problem? Can someone recommend a good player that will last maybe 3 years?

Could that be the main reason for it breaking? If your son is anything like my 5 year old daughter, she likes to stick the DVD in herself and try to get the correct settings on the TV. Half of the time I end up getting a DVD stuck or something else wrong and I have to break apart the player and fix it. I am on #2 myself for my kiddos in the past 2 years so I feel your pain.

I hear 'ya. I've bought several really good DVD players in the last few years and a DVD recorder about 4 years ago and the only one that has worked to any sort of satisfaction is the $29 Wal-Mart special we bought for my 9 year old to keep in her room.

The $250 Samsung and $200 Sony won't play a DVD ATALL after about a year.

No, I know it's not him. He doesn't mess with it, anyways two of the players that have gone out have been in our living room. I don't know what the deal is??

I think we've gone through 3 of them in the past few years. None of them ever held up. The only ones that work for me are the ps2 and ps3.

Just curious. Do you power the DVD players off when they're not in use? or do you just press stop, and go on to whatever else you were going to watch?

If you don't power them off, they pretty much spin the disc continuously. In that case you're asking a motor designed to run a few hours a day maximum to run continuously for much longer periods of time.

            Just my 2 cents.

I had that argument with my wife on the first two. She would leave a movie running and just switch to live tv. But the second two???? I don't know what went wrong with them.
