    Tripods in bottomland

Hunted the Alazan bayou (unit 747) last week with no luck. Was hunting on the west side where I had seen deer and many tracks scouting the area before the season started, but believe hunting pressure has made there activity nocturnal, so I'm going to by a tripod and try the bottomland . What is the best way to sturdy up a tripod in some of that soft bottomland? (other than avoiding soft bottomland - the other option)

We used 6x6 aluminum plates before. Our stands have removable caps on the bottom of the leg. Had a guy add the plates to some extra caps.

Good luck. Let us know how you do.

I use tripods in the Trinity River bottom and what we do is place them in the middle of a clump of trees. I'll butt the feet of the tripod up against the tree roots and strap each leg with a tie down to the tree. Mine are very sturdy but considering we haven't had as much rain as usual I might have problems later....Good Luck!!

I always try to find a spot where I can tie at least one leg to a tree. If you can tie two, then it's even better.
