    Oil for a 4 wheeler

What kind of oil do you use in your 4 wheeler? SAE 30, 10w30, something else?

The one I am maintaining is a late 90's model honda.

    Thanks

I always ran Castrol 20/50 GTX in my street bike and a reamed it's guts out with no problems! Don't let anyone talk you into synthetic oils in any kind of bike or quad, it has a wet clutch it has to have good oil bathing it and syn's are not it.

I agree with the wet clutch thing. I would suggest staying with the Honda oil (GN4?) if that's feasible.

Wow!! I have (2) 2004 Grizzly 660's that I have been running syn. oil in them since 2004. I guess I should quit. I have always ran synthetic oil in all of my atv's, lawnmowers, generators, etc.... No one has ever said anything to me about the clutch thing. They are all due for a oil change. Guess I will go get some Yamalube or whatever they call it. Thanks for the heads up.

WOW, 5 people, 5 different oils! I was wondering about it before now I'm flat out .

I cant find anywhere (even the coleman web site) what oil is recommended for my generator. It's a coleman powermate with a subaru engine.

I was hoping to use the same oil for the generator and 4 wheeler. I was going to buy a few quarts of what ever kind I need to leave at the lease in case I need to top one of them off.

Anyone know what the Honda GN4 is? is it just honda's brand of 30wt or is there something special about it?

the wet clutch is for atv that shift without using a manual clutch.. no worrys, i didnt know much about them till i owned one.. if you ever see some one reving a utility atv and popping it into gear let them know its not great for the wet clutch for them to do that..

I think... but not sure of... is that the honda oil has additives that normal 30 wt oil does not have.

Whether or not you actually need the additives... is another story.

But, I have only bought oil from Honda for my 95 Honda 300 fourtrax... and it runs great.

the price difference is not enough for me to worry about.
