My son has more luck than sense

My son went to trial on Monday morning in New Orleans. He was arrested last year for possesion of "1" pain pill. Back in March the DA gave him an option to take a felony w/ 2500 fine. he refused and went to trial. Well his lawyer presented the court with a sworn statement from my sons friend stating that the pill was his and my son picked it up by accident and also gave them an empty pill bottle. Can you believe they dropped all charges against him and refunded his bond money. I was shocked just a couple of months ago he was wanying to put him under the jail then he just lets him go un believable. I am just glad he learned a very valuable lesson. He almost lost a lot of his right over some dumb stuf.

Better to be lucky than good sometimes. Maybe the judge was just trying to offer him an easy-out and make a quick $2500 for the local precinct. It sounds similiar to what happened to my co-worker on indecent exposure charges. They said he could take probation and pay $800 fine or go to trial. He chose trial and the judge dropped the charge and refunded all money paid.

Very lucky indeed, The DA probably thought he would scare him into forking out the cash

X1000, But it is good to see some places actually hold people accountable for their actions. Glad your son didnt ruin his life over a stupid mistake. But judges deal with liars and career criminals everyday, its hard to distinguish one from just an unlucky teenager.
