sendaro for mesquites

what is the mixture that you all use for small mesquite. going to use a boomless and a hand sprayer. sendero/diesel/dawn/water? what mixtures yal use the most.

Don't use diesel. It kills the leaves before they can take up the herbicide. It's okay for basal treatment.

1% sendero with some surfactant mixed in. You have to get 100% coverage for a good kill. I find it easier to use a basal mix instead. 1 part Garlon 3 parts diesel, better results during the summer. It's alot easier to basal spray a mesquite than going around the whole thing getting 100% leaf coverage.

I've had great results with it using dawn dish soap as the surfactant.

I use remedy ultra. 2oz per gallon of water and use the blue marker spray

Reclaim 1/2%
1/4% surfactant
Water solution


If you sub Sendero for reclaim, it looks like you need more Sendero.

Found this on bexar county website some time ago. Used it and have dang near 100% kill rate.

That's not the ratios I find. 1.5% remedy. 1% sendero , plus you're not limited in growth cycle with sendero.

For individual plant treatment, use 6 quarts of Sendero in combination with 1-2 quarts of Remedy Ultra per 100 gallons of total spray solution (1.5%v/v Sendero + 0.25 to 0.5%v/v Remedy Ultra).

The amount of active ingredient of Clopyralid is 2.3lb/gal in Sendero and 3lb/gal in Reclaim, hence the higher suggested rate..

Will this solution kill yaupon? I've wanted to get rid of it for years in my yard.

I just used the mixture on the label mixed with water along with surfactant and dye. Had great kill rate on "smooth" bark young mesquites. Sprayed a few mature mesquites to see what it did and it just burned the leaves and they bounced right back.
