There is only 3 left in the DFW metro and non of them are any good now. Not even owned by the original people. I've et my weight in hot sopapillas and honey back when it was the original Poncho's here in Euless.

TexMex food originated down on the border back before most folks had refrigerators. It was a seasoning method to mask the taste of rancid or stale meat. Involved lots of chili pepper, garlic, cumin and oregano and a lot of salt as preservative.

I grew up going to Leon and Guadalajara and only stopped going about 5 years ago and the food down there is nothing like Texas or even the valley. Both can be good but the wetos have definitely ruined a fair amount of it.

Only difference I know of is Mexican food is a scaled down version of Texmex. Our tacos are bigger, enchiladas longer and more sides. Like mentioned above more flour than corn tortillas. And sour cream is not Texmex.

It was a Mediterranean restaurant, of the Greek and Turkish culinary cultures.

So far,
Greek Salad is okay.
Ixnay (sic?) on the Zucchini Pancakes w/ Warm Garlic Yogurt (tzatziki?) sauce.

Having spent some time working in Greece, I really fell in love with the food over there but trust me when I say this, an Italian living in New York can make better Tex Mex that the Greeks. Lol!
