Anchorage AK July 3 and 4 suggestions

We will be in anchorage 7/3 and 7/4 before a trip to Denali for 3 days then cruise southbound.

Any suggestions for food or things to do those two days. Looks like lots of fishing seasons not open yet but wouldn't mind fishing. I know it would probably be on our own since guides booked up I'm guessing.

    Thanks in advance

Hatcher pass is a fun day trip then up to Talkeetna for a pizza and glacier flight or Mahay’s jet boat tour (Talkeetna may be redundant if you’re already staying there with a cruise).
Day trip down to Seward, do a water taxi or boat tour to see glaciers, whales etc.
hike the glacier either by Seward or the smaller one right before the tunnel. Day charter and store your fish in anchorage while you do Denali.
It really comes down to how much you’re willing to spend, and how little sleep you require.
Montana creek,Willow river and a bunch of others, just before the turn off to Talkeetna are fun for trout, grayling and some salmon depending on the run timing.
There’s a cool beach across the road from the big airport. Lake hood float plane base is a fun place to cruise through. There are day trips across the inlet that start there.
Touro is a decent option for a short term rental car.

Be prepared for lots of people, especially over the holiday. Lots of traffic, boats, campers and any kind of recreational everything out and about. It can get crowded and really busy everywhere. Plan out as much as you can. We’ll pick up sandwiches and drinks for a lot of day trips to avoid burning up a lot of time waiting to eat, plus we like an old school picnic and blueberry picking on Hatcher pass and a few turn outs along the peninsula. Hard to beat the views and we’ve seen a ton of wildlife this way.

Tagged, as I will be there the week before.

We are doing a halibut trip with Crazy Ray’s and a fly in trip with Talon.

Looking at adding a King float trip near Seward.

Plan on making it to Denali, back around to Seward, then down the peninsula.

If you didn’t already know, half the road in Denali is closed.

Thanks for info. Guess we are in season for kings. I'll try and find an opening. Any guide suggestions would be great.

          Thanks

Should be in the beginning of the season for reds as well. We are banking on that

Kings are finicky if they will open the season or not.

Alaskan 4 star charters in Whittier. Jody will put you on the fish if he has an opening

If you’re going to Denali I’d just head up early and fish the roadside creeks and rivers.

I’d be getting as far from anchorage as possible, it’s a miniature Austin.

sounds like several of us will be in Anchorage around the same time. We head up there the 29th for a southbound cruise out of Seward. really looking forward to this. It's a bucket list / 30th anniversary / wife's birthday trip and our first to Alaska. Hope to get some of the lay of the land for a return trip in a couple years for more outdoors / fishing / hiking stuff.
