    Home window blinds?

Anyone have a brand or website they recommend?

Blind style too while we’re at it.

Just had my windows replaced this weekend.

Tomball area - if it’s from somewhere local.

Do shutters. You won’t regret it.

I hate having to cover my windows and can't understand why anyone would want to block out or even minimize the amount of natural light coming into your home. It would be like living in a coffin to me.

That said, I acknowledge that there are times when considerations of privacy take precedence over aesthetics and will grudgingly admit that shutters, while bulky and almost completely...opaque, are some of the classiest (if a little pedestrian) window coverings you can buy...

        ...and they'll cost you.

I agree with you on blocking natural lite, but our living room gets the evening sun, that’s not good. I have Levelor blinds from Home Depot. Ordered them, they work well and look good.

You do realize they open and close?

We did plantation shutters when we replaced our windows. Very happy with that decision

                  I know, I know, but I can’t stand a window I can’t see out of…at least a little bit.

Years ago, I had a bad experience with a shuttered window late one night. When I opened it, there was someone looking back in! Never again. If anything’s coming for me, I want to see it coming…preferably from a long way off.

I dislike people being able to see into my house even more. Homes in the Houston area are way to close for my liking. Until I get into the country I deal with it. Sort of like fences make good neighbors, I like to block out my neighbors and the heat of the day.

I was in Grand Prairie this pass week giving a presentation to the inspection group, their lead told me his house is all windows. Virtually, no wall space aside of the doors and windows.

I can’t imagine this. Where would you hang your art?

This is a little too much transparency for me, too.

Shutters, or at least the ones we had installed at our old home in Lubbock would open to leave the entire window uncovered or you could adjust the shutters to let in as much or as little as you wanted.

We have used Blinds.com twice, once for the house we built on our othe property and just a month or so ago when we closed in our back porch. We have been completely satisfied both times. We chose “wood look” venetion type blinds for our weekend place and roll up shades for the back porch here at home. The sun hits the back of the house pretty hard in summer and it’s easy to lift the shades in the morning and lower them about noon. The shades are not like the old window shades of yesteryear, they raise and lower with one finger. The black panther lives out there and he likes to see outside.

Agreed on the shutters in our last house we had built and the present one we live in now. The house we had built in 2016/17 we have 29 windows and had plantation shutters (3”) installed. They are easy to open/close and bring the outdoor living inside.

The house we had built in 2010 in the Houston area had them also. I don’t remember the name of the company but will ask my wife and sen you a pm.
