    Pull down attic stair lock

    Obviously would only slow a thief down and make a racket but what do y'all think of this for a lock? Any other locking solutions someone might recommend?

    Removing the string to pull it down and installing a magnetic child latch would probably do as much and they wouldn’t know where to attack it

      Are you speaking of the ones used on cabinets? That would be the only ones I'm familiar with.

        If he's going to the attic, I'd assume he's already inside the house. So what's in the attic we're trying to lock him out of?

            How about something like this Bill? You would need some type of DC power source in addition.

              Thanks, Mike. It would be good if I were going up and down a lot but my time up the attic stair will be greatly reduced with the completion of the house. Mechanical systems will be under warranty for a while so they can tend to it.

                Rebar burgler bars on the inside mounted to the rafters. Simple pad lock.
