That's an interesting blanket statement. People who can afford it also complain about things being to expensive. Some people are cheap. Some wear it as a badge of honor ....even on here. This is a benefit. It is used to raise money and has to be in excess of costs to be useful. If one can't afford the $15, donate what you can if you want to help and move along. Nothing good comes from complaining at an event like this.

            Question

My way of thinking is that they should donate money to keep up the cemetery without a meal being offered.
I’ve bought many cakes at fundraisers and gave them back to be auctioned again.
Life is what you make it and some folks just want to be miserable.

Went to a church picnic Sunday, brisket, pork, red potatoes, potato salad, beans, bread, sauce, tea and a dessert. $15. Was well worth it! $15 is in line.

This is a $40 plate at retail.

Well, there’s one piece of brisket missing.

Yep. I want an old rope.

OP, leave it be. That's a good plate full for that price.

Seems like a reasonable price to me. The bigger purpose is to raise a little money, not to eat at a discount.

                          Option 1
                          1. Replace chicken with brisket. A brisket and sausage plate will have a higher perceived value than a chicken and sausage plate.
                          2. Keep the price at $15

                          Option 2
                          1. Cut the chicken back to a 1/4, not a 1/2
                          2. Sausage should be no more than 1/2 link, 3"-4" is a good amount
                          3. Drop price to $10-$12

                          Option 3
                          1. Keep the meat amounts as is
                          2. Add in an extra tea and dessert
                          3. Advertise it as a meal for 2 adults
                          4. Raise price to $20
Option 2 is exactly what I was going to post. Drop it to $12 and do chicken quarters. I like Option 3 as well.

People who will be whinny about a meal like that for $15 are always going to whine. Not sure what the answer is.

Just for a different perspective. I normally take leftovers to work for lunch. For work lunch yesterday, I paid $11 for a 6" Subway Club with chips & drink. Today I paid $10 for 3 tacos & and drink at Taco Bell. $15 is a steal for your plate.
