    Source for Galvanized Pipe?

I'm looking to source about 300' of galvanized schedule 40 pipe (either 2" or 3") for a solar ground mount racking system. Obviously the closer to Hallettsville, the better., but I can travel within reason to pick it up. Anybody have suggestions?

Electrical supply houses in Victoria would probably deliver it for free or a small charge.

3" Sch40 is pretty stout, not sure how you plan to use it, but it would weigh just over 2x as much as 2" Sch40. With carbon steel pipe, you are usually paying for weight, so figure 2x the cost for 3" Sch40 over 2" Sch40. And do you really need galvanized, or can you use uncoated pipe and paint it after fabrication? Galvanize is going to drive up the cost as well.

I'm finding out that you're correct on the 2" vs 3".

I suppose I can build it however I want - wood, carbon steel, galvanized - but I want it to look reasonably good and be able to survive whatever remnants of hurricane force winds we may see this far (~60 miles) inland from the coast.

I'm exploring options and am definitely open to alternate suggestions!

Search for galvanized rigid conduit (or GRC). There should be lots of options for sourcing.

Umm.....are you sure you want to use galv pipe. $200+ for a 3" x 10' length.

Unastrut goes for half that amount and is a more appropriate material.

Not sure what the frame structure entails, but I would guess unistrut would be what many of these are built from.

I work at an electrical supply house in Port Lavaca. 3" galvanized conduit will run you $190.13 per 10' stick 2" is $91.27 big price difference

how many panels you supporting? they sell pre fab type racking systems, you can prob get some great ideas if you travel along 90 with all the new solar farms being installed.

I have found some decent supplies for some materials on FB marketplace. Some drill stem / tubing could be used and painted.

Big difference between galv conduit and galv pipe.

I will have 36 panels, total. (Four arrays of 9 panels.)

I have a quote for an engineered, pre-fab system that comes with everything except the pipe. From the diagrams they sent, it looks like there are a few different approved options for the pipe.

I'm still researching and open to different options.
