Well when something peaks my interest like this I usually need to see it all the way through. I will get an ID on this even if its just a junk rock. Will followup on this thread once I have the ID for the one or two folks who might be interested in the results.

I don't know what it's called but I find them every once in a while in S Texas. In fact I seem to remember a thread about them right here on the green screen.

Lots of them have a little deformity from where they were flying through the air an were not spinning so a dimple of sorts formed on the trailing side... Friend of mine is a rock doctor and he did his master's thesis on meteor impact craters and the debris created from them. He said he was not aware of a meteor impact that was documented in Del Rio, but there definitely was one somewhere in the area because those roundish rocks were once molten debris flying through the air from materials thrown into the air by the impact of the meteor hitting the earth's surface... pretty cool to see them. Took him out there with me once on a hunt... He never even got his gun out. He spent the whole time playin with them dang rocks! Was fascinating to see how much information he could gather from them and how they were lying on the ground!
You must have been close to my lease. I have the same situation. Guys out there say they are meteorites, but I think it is just iron ore. Gotta remember to take a magnet with me one day.

We find these often on our place in Comstock. I’ve got a few good ones in cup holder of my ranch truck out there.

A quick look on Ebay shows a very similar rock listed as Bezoar Stone. Wiki says these were formed from being in the stomachs of prehistoric animals that used them to grind food. Giving them their rounded shape.

Put it close to your ear and listen...if you hear a spaceship, it's from a meteor. If you hear a stomach growl, it was once inside a dinosaur.

My dad would call that a Polynesian sex stone...aka just a f***ing rock. Can't tell you how many thousands of times I heard that growing up.

Grind a little spot on it. Probably Nickle with little iron.

Etch it with an acid now (vinegar will work if left in it for a bit). . Depending on the meteorite it will show a pattern.
