Im 4 hours away and going to plant more sunflowers than normal, Its 450 per acre opening weekend to hunt by yourself but you can return free all season to your field. I have lots of good dirt available and plenty planting moisture and can start planting immediately. (This week) No guarantees on bird numbers but they are already showing up and it looks good. 2 fields already spoken for

If Legdog tells me when he's gonna be down, I will be there!
Been a long **** time.
Last time, I had a limit, and hunted with our TBH Bro's & Sis's, with a 9'6" longboard surfboard in the back of my truck.
Drifter was calling me, and we knew the rare Texas wave pattern was going down, and I said adios after the evening hunt. I helped Mary charge her camera for the TBH Saturday night scene control (always needed), and rolled up to Corpus, after saying adios to all with other plans. Had Border Patrol check my cooler, after saying GRINGO, at the check-point
Drifter and I grilled my limit of birds Saturday night, till wee hours of the morning that night in Corpus Christi.
Sunday morning, we both surfed our brains out along the Coastal Bend with doves, as the only fuel - with a few cervezas, during the recharge times, on the sand. Drifter and I still remember it, and it was all tied to a wild Dove and Surf weekend down south. Free Thinking and seizing life!
Humper and I walked and talked near the house along the high fenceline nearby. It was so darn cool to meet Humper and as gatherings there through the years, it always brought us closer who participated, together as a TBH crew.
This time, I won't bring the board.
Cambo was there, and so many others, who are now long gone on the Green Screen. I hugged the edge on the South end field, and for a solid hour, the sky was nothing but birds. Like a cloud, and one could shoot at one, and bring down two birds. Sunflower everywhere and nothing like that magical hour of getting smothered, I've ever experienced.
Born there in McAllen. Mom always said, she could see the Rio from the room, as she went thru, birthing my silly life. Dad taught High School education in La Jolla High School for a few years, during the school years, and worked labor at a cotton gin, during the late summer crop, for coin. Lived in the La Jolla High School Teacher dormitory, too poor to rent, and from them and what was shared, I was the first blonde haired baby many there, experienced. The local ladies would come by to see the white blonde haired baby - 1960. Another time there.
I may get bashed for waxing nostalgic but, I **** well know, we have been here before, both tribes. And living and giving there, it's not like anywhere elsewhere with backgrounds, who have given and shared, as we know the RVG world was back then.
Solid memories Farm Dog & Legdog. Always in my prayers and thoughts.
Elephant John, You and Legdog - I've lived semi-connected through all of y'all, now disconnected from RGV in the Texas Hills, and it's been a ride of memories. THANKS! Always makes me smile.
AMEN AMIGOS! Thank you.

The very first field of sunflowers planted exclusively for whitewing was on our farm. I know thats a bold statementbut I was a little kid sleeping on the floor of the tractor as it was furiously disced down during the hunt after the locals surrounded the field and Bud got mad after some 6 shot got stuck in his neck. That was a lifetime ago. Lots of memories. Im afraid of not planting any, it kinda spooks me thinking about the dove tradition dying Rob. I can’t plant close to my moms house anymore. She might try and disc them down. she thinks they are her birds
I remember meeting Cameron when he was a crazy kid telling jokes 90 miles an hour and thinking what a strange interesting kid he was. Thats when Legdog brought the Stovall boyz to the RGV too. The Bulldozer knocked over corn super close to the high fence entrance on Friday. 2 giant turbines are going in there. Probably one of my bigger mistakes
