    Help with Honda Pioneer 700

For those who are mechanical this may be easy. I'm pretty sure my rear brake pads are shot. When I google 2015 Honda Pioneer 700 every video I see replacing pads the Honda 700's have a rotor/pads on each wheel (like cars and the front tires on my Honda)

I just have this one in the center back. If anyone has changed these, are they easy? If anyone can find a video that would be great. I need to figure out what to order also.

They are not too hard to replace the pads. Just more a pain where the calipers are and getting the maneuvered in and out.

Replacing the rotor is a different story. In short, you will need to unbolt the rear diff and shift it backwards to get the driveshaft free.

I have having heck with mine right now, as it seems the pads are locking up on the rotor. Not sure what’s going on, as it is t east to get to the caliper.

I had mine apart to change out the u-joint that failed. There there alot of little parts for that I missed on the first go around on the rebuild.

The pads aren’t bad to change. Just pull the caliper off and change the pads like normal on a truck. One thing to know is that you cannot compress the piston on the caliper by pushing it in. It has to be screwed in.

Also, I don’t have a video but I think I still have an electronic copy of the service manual on my computer. I can email it if you’d like.

I search online and found a copy of the factory service manual for mine. I downloaded it somewhere. Same year model as OP has.

Also, I hate this single break setup, I wish it were normal wheel disc brakes.

Where did you guys buy the pads? And do you know the exact pads I need?

Go to partzilla or another site and look for exploded parts diagrams.

Write down the appropriate part numbers then search on internets.

I have been buying most of my stuff from a place in Conroe, because they have it in stock.

I have also bought from Partzilla and other sites, once again more for availability.

This is what I am running. Notice there are sets for the 700 and 700-4, so choose accordingly.

Tim, if you haven't already, go create you an account on HondaSxS.com. You can find everything you ever wanted to know and a lot of what you may not have wanted to know about Honda sxs's... I was on there heavy for quite a while last Winter and earlier this Spring, and learned so much from the guys there! Some good sponsors there too to get parts and accessories from... I set mine up with an isolator and second battery, Front and rear flip up windshields, lift kit, racing shocks, wheel spacers... all kinds of goodies. Also if you don't have the service manual for your machine, you can download it for free from their site. The only thing they're kind of sticky about is when you create an account, they like to have pics of your machine and a write up about it... I really enjoy the site. Probably the BEST Search function of any web site I've ever used... I'd just go register then use the search function in the upper right corner of the home page and type in something like "single rear disc on pioneer 700" then scan the threads that pop up. Guarantee you somebody has done a video on that and probably mods to make it better, convert it to normal or no telling what!
