    My last Reunion

Headed to Branson, Mo. Friday am to attend what will most likely be our last reunion of my old Army outfit 3rd Battalion of the 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Inf. Division. Of the approximately 1200 men of the 3/8th Inf that went to Vietnam in 1966, 289 of us were KIA and never made it back. 3/4 of those alive were wounded in action. Since then old age and agent orange and other maladies have taken a toll on those of us remaining. As of now there are just over a 100 of us left walking this earth. Our website is no longer active as the webmaster has since died and no one is able to keep up with it anymore. https://www.ivydragoons.org/Tribute.htm

Gonna be a nice scenic drive up from Fort Worth so I can pay tribute to my brothers one more time.

. I hope there are some Buc-ee's on the way so I can refresh on some boudin kolaches.

Safe travels! I just received word and hour ago my former CSM Leon Myers Jr is back in the hospital. L3 has deteriorated and there’s a hole in his spinal column/cord. Cancer has spread throughout his entire body with the past 7-10 years being the worst. He’s lost a kidney and part of his brain. No doubt agent orange is to blame! I haven’t a clue how much longer the Lord will allow him to suffer? I just wish I could be by his side there in Georgia

While I'm glad you can still go to the reunion it saddens me that our Viet Nam soldiers were not better treated during and after the war. I'm saddened to hear they are passing away the way they are. Agent Orange and other chemicals the military exposed them to was incredibly irresponsible and the government should have stepped up immediately to help our team.

Thank you ALL for your service. You stepped up, even when drafted, when others would not. You will always have my respect and admiration.

I'll be in the fast lane when I pass that one. I probably won't stop until I'm up past McAlester at least and it's daylight out. I'll be leaving my crib about 4 am so I can be in Branson by noon.
