I am looking at getting a front replacement bumper for my truck. Both look good, but is there any reason I should choose one over the other. How well do they hold up over time ( paint, rust, strength, etc.)

Ranchhand or Frontier Gear bumper

Both brands will be built similarly and with the same or very similar materials. The thing I would look at would be the finish on the bumpers. Powder coat will probably be the longest lasting and will fade less than a painted finish but costs more than a painted finish. A thin coat of paint will start showing rust pretty quick.

Depends on what you're looking for...if you want it for cosmetic purposes, the Frontier is definitely the way to go. But, if you're buying it for what its intended for, you better get the Ranchhand. Check behind the diamond plate facia on the Frontier. All you'll find is a piece of angle to stiffen her up. The Ranchhand has a piece of pipe for the backbone and is MUCH heavier...
I believe DMo has the Frontier, but welded in some tubing to give her some strength...

Yep, I've got the frontier. I like it, but it's definitely not as stout as the pipe ones (at least it didn't USED TO be).....not near as heavy either.
I welded two pieces of 1/2"X3" between the up-rights on mine behind the face. Then put a receiver hitch in between them. I have stretched quite a bit of wire off of it, and it's a great place for a road feeder, but I still use the factory tow hooks for pulling trucks and forklifts out of the mud. I also welded mine to the frame.

I like the pipe style bumpers they weigh only 60 lbs more than a grill guard and the factory bumper but give you maximum protection. The only thing I recommend is to rotate your tires every other oil change and you'll have no problems. Most powder coating is good from all the manufactures, i believe they all give about a 1 yr warranty. Inspect it every month and notify them in imediantly if you are having issues, they will most likely repowder coat it. (with that being said keep your old bumper for the 1st yr in case you have to send the pipe for recoating) enjoy..

I don't personally have one but have you looked at Cattleman. I believe their website is www.cattlemanhd.com. I have seen a couple and they look pretty good.
