    Walk In Cooler

Looking to purchase a walk-in cooler for the lease. Anyone know of a place to get one in the Panhandle area? Lease is in Childress.

I would consider using a Coolbot and building an insulated room for it.
    They work well.

We use the Coolbot with a 10,000Btu a/c and gets our temps to 37-38 degrees.
We found old walk-in cooler panels and built our own. 4’x9’. 7’ tall.
12BTU would be better if your not using cooler panels.

I bought a used 6x6 cooler that the refrigeration components were not working here on TBH. Ripped all that stuff out and got a 12000BTU A/C and a coolbot. Gets down to 36* and works flawlessly. I have under $2K in the whole thing!

We built a walk-in cooler using insulated panels and a coolbot. I posted pictures and information on our Gleaton’s Chip Ranch thread if you want to take a look. Let me know if you have any questions.

If you go homemade and it is in exposed sunlight use 2x6 studs, open cell foam, plastic line (vapor barrier so your foam doesn't absorb moisture) the inside and over with FRP panel for a clean white finish.

Cool bot is the way to go for coolers.
I just sold the smallest rooftop refrigeration package they make and it was around $3500+tax.

That cooler pictured now days is gonna cost you north of 9k with refrigeration.

What we built (after conferring with Matt Stolle). Few 100 dollars in material to build, few more $100 bills for Coolbot and air conditioner and 10+ years later, we are still enjoying it. Minor repair on coolbot (parts) and replaced window unit this year and good for another $10+ years.

You cannot beat this for the economics and reliability imho.

                    Walk In Cooler

I have coolbot cooler at my camp. It has worked perfect for 8 years now. 6x8 room with a 12,000 btu 120volt window unit.

2x4 studs with fiberglass insulation. 2x6 ceiling with fiberglass insulation. Then 1/2” foam board with all seams tapped. Then hardy board.

Once you have a cooler-store bought or homemade you’ll wonder how you ever did without one. Mine has been in use 24/7 since I got it 4 years ago. Other than the normal deer hunting/ butchering it gets used for everything. Vegetables out of the garden-in the cooler. Having a get together- food and drinks in the cooler till you need them. Trip to the meat market- in the cooler till you can vacuum pack it. Handier than a handle on a bucket.
