    Hash Knife

Anyone use one? Watching Kent Rollins and it looks like a useful tool but not sure how much I would really use it. I also have a knife acquisition problem.

I have yet to really see the benefit other than it just being one tool you can kind of chop and spatula with. I have pondered the same watching some of his videos.

Incidentally, the land where Abilene Christian University sits was originally a ranch called the Hash Knife, if I recall.

How is it different than an Ulu, the handle?

It looks like the kind of thing you’d have to go out of your way to learn to use, just to say how easy it is to use.

I think you need at least two…

I grew up in Abilene. My dad still lives there.. Never heard that but interesting. There is a big spread north of Albany called The Hash Knife. Looks like a axe blade with a kettle handle.

Close the thread, this seems to be the best explanation going.

They are great for fletching hides.

My grandpa used to use one to skin elk. He could skin an entire elk in the time I could do the front legs. Definitely have to watch the fingers on the other hand. Good ones are exceptionally sharp.

I bought one while on an Alaskan cruise. In case I ever need to skin a seal or gut a salmon. Its been on a shelf in my office for 7 years and there it will stay.

I use mine for slicing pizza and chopping veggies.
