    EO Tech AR 15 shooters?

As my eyes age, I'm thinking of switching to the EO Tech 557 bdc reticle with 3x magnifier. Anyone shoot one, if so how busy is the reticle?

Trijicon RX-30 might be worth your time to look at. They have some magnification, don't need batteries, and gives you an aim point.

The Eotech is about as fast as you can get. They are not made for precision shooting if that is what you are after. Take into accoutn that it is a comba sight and it is great for what it is made for. I can go from a down ready position and get a shot off in about a second at 50 yards and keep it in the vitals.

Works great for 100 yard or less but you will find at distance parts of your reticle will cover targets.... Glen was spot on when he said it is a combat weapons sight and not made for presision shooting..

In honest you might want to try a BTR xtreme 1-4 power short dot style, very nice scope and works great for mid range work ...

        This is the reticle..

        This is the optic..

And here is what it looks like mounted up..

That's a nice looking setup Dale. What does it run and where can you find them? I could see one of those mounted on my 6.5 Grendel with a LaRue QD mount.

The EOTech is a very good site system for fast target aqusition, My rifle does well with quick shots 50 and in. Don't spend the money on the site if you are looking to shoot longer distances than 100 yards. For this you need optics not sights. Or at least I do with my old eyes.

I appreciate the insight, maybe I should have phrased the ? differently. I currently use the EO Tech 512 and have used it for years. I like it ALOT.

The 557 reticle has a ballistic matching reticle for 0-600 meters. see here http://www.eotech-inc.com/product.php?id=8&cat=1

I was concerned about the clutter in the reticle for 100 and in. I shot one this weekend and was very impressed.

The sighting system is the same for 100m and in, the additional ballistic dots can serve as a post if your trained to shoot in the old A1 or A2 format.

The flip to side 3x magnifier was quick to use and worked well out to 300m. Didn't shoot past that distance.

I have shot the Burris and Meopta K-dots in 3 gun matches, and both work well, but wanted to keep my 3gun rig similar to my duty set-up.

Anyone shoot the Rocky Mtn 3gun match in Raton, NM? Coming up in August, great match, awesome prize table. Good times, ALOT of trigger time.

                  We need an AR-15 forum.

I agree with that. There's a lot of collective information out there that would be nice to gather up.
