What did Lincoln do to plunge the nation into war? If all you know about civil war history is from movies, you should read up on it. Most of the south seceded before he even took office. And then he (along with the legislature) even passed an amendment protecting slavery in the South. Can you imagine if it had been ratified? Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying the civil war was over slavery. It was only over slavery to the extent that slavery was a conduit for power.

Might as well take it all the way back to Lucifer, and prevent that SOB from being created.

That's a tough one. I'd at minimum guy buy a bunch of those $2-3k trucks y'all are selling for $40k now.

I do wish we could pick the Era we live in.

Like others, I've pondered this question too. But my answer always comes down to one date: July 30, 1998. I would never go back to a time before that.

That was the day my daughter was born. I would never want to change anything before that time and possibly mess up the beginning of what is the best thing to ever happen to me in my life. That little girl changed me!

November of 1986. Me and Alecia could start all over again.

Voting to leave a union only causes war if somebody takes up arms to "preserve" the union. Not saying anything at all about slavery, but if folks vote to be out, they should be out. In that regard, I put the Civil War on Lincoln, as commander in chief of the US army.

I hear what you're saying but the south forced his hand by taking military action. And even then he wasn't as swift to react as he should have been. If the South didn't want to start a war (and they did), they would have made at least some attempt to negotiate the transfer of Fort Sumter to the confederacy. They did no such thing because peace was never their intention.
