Places to eat in Taylor Texas?

I have training coming up next month and was just wondering if there’s any good spots to spend my per diem.

Circleville Store has a good chicken fried steak. Texan Cafe in Hutto is good, it's just a few miles from Taylor.

If you are looking for an upscale place you will probably need to drive into RR.

I used to pick up the red hot dogs at Taylor Meat Company when I was passing through. That has been 15 years though

I grew up going to Louie Mueller's and my family always considered it the pinnacle of TX BBQ. My parents went a month ago and said it was not the same. Brisket didn't have the same texture or peppery rubbed bark.
I have always thought that since Bobby passed away a decade a go or so. I will be trying it out for lunch today for the first time in a few years. Fingers crossed.

Ed's Place right behind Louie Mueller serve's a mean burger and it's an old school beer joint. If you want a nice sit down meal in the evening, La Scala has pretty good Italian food.

The Loose Screw is a draft house located in the old high school and they have some food trucks in the parking lot. If it's a nice day you can just walk up to the window outside and they'll pour you a beer and you can eat lunch under the oak trees.

If Vencil's is still open, I would go there for BBQ, as opposed to Louie Miller. Just my .02.

I think the name of the place is called Taylor Cafe.

And I 2nd the drive to Walburg. That is where I grew up. The Mercantile for German food is outstanding and the atmosphere is awesome. I dont know if they have live music yet, but the Biergarten is a lot of fun. A good burger can be had over at Dale's Essenhaus as well.
