Deer Blind Windows

I need to build 3 new 4x4 blinds this year. I'm looking at the windows online and trying to decide on a style. The blinds will be going on scattered mesquite flats down south, so being able to see is important.

We have blinds we built with the horizontal slide windows currently. The windows are tinted and slide smooth. My only complaint is you can't get full use of your window.

I like the idea of the windows that slide vertical up the wall, but they mount to the inside. I'm concerned about getting the window sealed up good where we don't have issues with water coming in or rotting the plywood edges.

The other option is an outside mount flip to the inside window. I like its quiet operation and the way it mounts to the outside. Another company has a split flip. My only concern is the little dinky latches keeping it closed.

Im curious about people's thoughts or experiences with these windows. Especially the last one, I'm leaning toward it if the latches will hold up and it will seal up good.

I have the side slide windows and the flip up windows.
I like both.
The flip up for front, and the slide for the side.
If I only have a small shooting lane to shoot to, I use the sliding windows.
I’d go with all slides, but my boy prefers flip up. You can cover a large are from a 6-8” opening…

I have the mounted outside flip up windows and the latches are stout and will keep em closed.

Ive always used the inside mounted, inside flip up windows. We use the primed smart panels for blinds as well. I put a layer of caulk on the window openings every year or 2. Never had an issue with rotting.

I have the deluxe windows and love them. They seal up very well and don’t let any bugs in at all.

What are the advantages of smart panels over good plywood?

I am also considering adding a radiant barrier on the ceiling and walls.

Has anyone else tried it, and was the difference noticeable? At times, it can be pretty warm and stuffy right when you get in. I have noticed that the more you seal them up, the worse they get. Some people have said they add vents to help.

x2. I also like the flip up as you can use the full window opening.

I've used DeerView windows on a few of my blinds, and as long as they're installed correctly you should be fine. I also caulk around the window openings each year for added protection and piece of mind. I haven't had any issues and it's been close to 6 seasons with these windows.

Its engineered wood. I started using it for blinds 10-12 years ago. Still have one of the originals. In my experience, it doesnt warp or split if it gets some water inside. Rarely do we get any water in them, but its happened after big storms. Pretty bug proof too when you use a real door instead of a plywood one
