    R.I.P. Bart Skelton

Not sure if that name will mean much to most on here, but Bart was the son of Skeeter Skelton. Both very accomplished hand-gunners and outdoor writers.

Bart passed away today. His dad's writing was instrumental in my passion for handguns and handgun hunting. Sad deal.

    RIP. Grew up reading both.

They were both great writers. Skeeter's articles inspired my fondness of the 44 special.

Good Lord, he was younger than me. I met and talked with him at an NRA annual meeting in Houston several years ago. Always enjoyed his articles. R. I. P. Bart.

I knew I recognized the name. Rest in peace, Old Hand.

Never heard of him, but RIP. Was he kin to Red Skelton?

Dean he was a New Mexico state trooper, and then a Customs Agent. He wrote articles for Guns & Ammo and Shooting Times. His Dad was well known in handgun circles, especially us six-gun aficionados. Here’s a picture lifted from the internet. From left, Sheriff Jim Wilson, Texas Ranger Joaquin Jackson, and Bart.
Now only Jim Wilson is left from those three. It’s sad to get old in that all the people you are familiar with are gone or leaving.

Bart was a nice gentleman. I was not aware that he passed. In years past, we would visit at Shot Show and NRA Conventions.
