I downloaded it when Bill M posted about it in another thread but haven't played with it. I just pulled up some random birds making sounds on youtube and it nailed them all. How neat

The other day i used it to ID a bird by its song. I couldn't see the bird but recorded it singing through the app.

Turns out it was a long billed thrasher.

For over a week the app has been IDing a white-eyed vireo. Yesteday I heard it in a specific direction and got the camera and started playing it back in that general area. It didn't take long for it it come see me.

Next step is to get a Sibley's bird book and start noting your finds
Becomes addicting and you will find you will take on your travels

Awesome app, i use it all the time. It's cool because there are some birds I've heard my whole life but never knew what they were until now. My 9 year old has asked to be woken up early before school so he can sit outside and use the app to collect birds for my life list. If you set up an account with Merlin you can save your sightings in a life list. I can't wait to see what birds I can get during hunting season.

Awesome pictures. The white eyed video is one of my favorite birds ID'd so far. I'll have to try and call some in like you did.

I can't remember if the app and Ebird are connected but probably are. I have collected lists before but as a bird photographer, it is not really what I'm into. I have record of my birds by my cataloged photography.

Anyone wanting to start listing your sightings, go to the link below. Beware, that once you start creating these lists, you officially become a bird watcher.

                    rtjh, thanks for the comment.

I’m not a birdwatcher. I just love having these little hummers around!

The truth hurts! When you start scanning the tree canopies for feathers instead of the wood line for bucks, you have crossed the line.

It's a great app. I went to San Marcos this weekend and could here several birds that I had never heard before. The app identified all of them and with some patience I was able to finally see them in the tree canopy.
