You don’t have to convince the fish, you have to convince the fishermen.

One thing I have learned making lures is that the above statement is very true. Lol. As far as my preference I roll my own.

I like to browse myself, however, in a pinch before a fishing trip it is nice to have a store close by similar to the big name tackle shops down south or at least the option of fast shipping. Just didnt know if others felt the same way

I typically buy way too much when I do visit those places you mentioned, and that holds me over.
I pretty much have a handful of go-to baits so it is also pretty easy to just jump online and stock up when needed as well.

I'd drive past 13 Academies to go to Tackle Town. I love that place, and I absolutely hate academy.

I go to academy some. There's a local shop about 15 min from the house that i'll hit up every month or two. I only use about the same 5 or 6 types of baits year around (corky, rattletraps, spook, mirrodine, and a handful of plastics).

Depends on what the fishing plans are. Offshore, surf and or inshore bay, each has a different need.

                Some of the few

                Salt Strong Tackle
                Marker 54
                Tackle Direct
                CharkBait!
                Mirrolure
                KWigglers
                Breakaway Tackle
                FishBites
                D.O.A.
eBay - has a lot of bulk used tackle, at times, you can score a load of lures - swim and twitch style hard plastics

I fish the same couple baits and keep them on hand.

                  Marker54 Jerk
                  Down South
                  SoftDines
                  Skitterwalk

I can just order or stop by when I get low.

Yep. Also like spending money with little guys like Waterloo and Anglers Anonymous.

I’ve always bought stuff from Academy when around the house, but do go into small shops like Tackle Town or POC R&G.

This year I finally took a look at Amazon and will order bulk circle hook and lead weights. Much better pricing, but no experience with the quality yet.

As for lures, I surely don’t need anymore as I have plenty for years to come. I’ve gotten away from strictly artificial fishing the coast like I used to, usually due to the company I have on the boat or lack of desire to grind out a bunch of wades. I blame buying a nicer boat for my laziness to get after it like I used to.

I used to carry one of everything, now I just throw on a top water and shove a couple jigs heads and plastics in a shirt pocket. Over carrying all the excess just to have to clean it or it go bad or get lost.

I do some online shopping (repeat buying some of my go to SW plastics and most to all my crappie gear). Saying that I love to shop in the store (Academy, or Johnny Sporting Goods in Eagle Lake (I drive by it each weekend enroute from Sugar Land to Shiner and back. Pops is fond of the Tackle Box in Victoria for the same reasons.
